Product Description

Only 200 cases were made of ‘Alberts Block’ Shiraz. The colour is dark red. The nose is packed with red berry fruit, chocolate, hints of eucalyptus and very sublte oak in the background. The palate is loaded with blackberries, prunes, mocha and has a big tannin structure but restrained in style. Eat with rare BBQ’d steak.

The Wine Front..92 + Points, Tough vintage but this has really come up with the goods. It has a grainy, inky activity to it. It tastes of Xmas cake and brandy-soaked blackberries, fresh plums and sweet, spicy, sawdusty oak. For all its intensity and alcohol warmth, it remains fresh and lively. Excellent value too. Only 200 cases produced. Bottled unfined and unfiltered  Drink: 2014-2019+

The Vineyard The Westlake Vineyard is located in the Moppa sub-region of The Barossa Valley. The soil is red, brown earth over tight red clay. The vines are clone 1654 and are hand pruned to 2 bud spurs and trellised to a single wire. The fruit is cropped at 2 tonnes per acre and was hand harvested in March after a perfect growing period and tougher ripening season.

Winemaking Darren Westlake puts the wine through a quick 8 day fermentation in open top fermenters with pumping over twice daily and is basket pressed into aged French & American (50/50) oak hogsheads for 24 months and is bottled unfined and unfiltered.

The Wine The Alberts has a PH of 3.52, 6.8 gms of acid is bone dry and has 14.6% alcohol.
