Product Description

The palate is rich and velvety showing boysenberry, spice and musk flavours, complemented by subtle vanilla from the sweet American oak. This well structured Merlot has a firm finish with fruit and acid in perfect harmony. A wine to be enjoyed in its youth or will round off and soften in the cellar. Serve with gnocchi, lamb, pan fried-veal, smoked chicken, quail or pork.

3½ STARS -  WINESTATE Magazine July/August 2010 Plums and new leather lift off the nose and generous, fleshy black-fruits, licorice and oak fill the mouth with flavour.

Serafino (Steve) Maglieri arrived in McLaren vale in 1968 determined to enter the wine industry. From picking, pruning and cellar hand work to planting his own vineyards and building his first winery, Steve has enjoyed great success.

Being crowned “Bushing King” on two occasions, also winning the Trophy for “Australia’s Best Shiraz” in the 1997 Great Australian Wine Challenge he became internationally acclaimed after winning the Trophy for the Best Shiraz and Red Wine of the Year at the London International Wine Challenge. The success continued with the 2002 Serafino Cabernet Sauvignon winning Australia’s “Cabernet of the Year” in the Winestate Wine of the Year awards. The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded “Best Cabernet” Advertiser Top 100, with our 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon winning the “Bushing King” Trophy and our 2007 Cabernet again voted “Best Cabernet” in the Advertiser Top 100.

Today the Serafino vineyards have expanded to 300 acres of prime McLaren Vale land and a new state of the art winery, purpose built for small batch production.

Serafino is set in the picturesque grounds of Serafino McLaren Vale Resort complex which now boasts a newly refurbished Serafino Restaurant overlooking the Lake.  The grounds also have a beautiful appointed tasting and sales area, and friendly helpful staff.
